Learn to facilitate the “Idol Breaking” Process in this new Online Training Course by Dmitri Bilgere

For the last several years I’ve been running and perfecting a process I call “Idol Breaking.”

Idol Breaking helps the participant really see and understand the limitation of the world that they believe they live in… and then helps them receive permission and blessing to step into a bigger world, where the limitations of their “old world” no longer apply.

You can run Idol Breaking in groups. You can also run it one-on-one. You can run it on the phone. Or even on yourself.

It is different from standard “Carpet Work” in some key ways. And I’m finding it to be the most powerful tool I’ve ever used in helping people.

Here’s a ten-minute sample from the first lesson of my new audio course, in which I talk about what will be covered in that lesson, and also about some of the differences between standard Carpet Work and Idol Breaking.

The Idol Breaking process reminds me of the old saying that…

“Simple is not always the same as easy.”

After all, Idol Breaking is simple. You simply want the answers to these questions:

  • Question 1: What do they really want, on the deepest level?
  • Question 2: What do they get instead, when they go for fulfilling that want?
  • Question 3: When they can’t get that deepest want fulfilled, what heart-breaking fate do they start to accept?
  • Question 4: What kind of a ‘god’ or ‘higher power’ are they believing in who would set up the world so that they have no choice but to accept a heart-breaking fate?
  • Question 5: What is their best sense of the love and mercy the real Divine has for them?

That is simple. Just ask the questions and you’re done, right? Well, no. Because just because Idol Breaking is simple does not mean that it’s easy.

Idol Breaking is not easy because THE PARTICIPANT USUALLY DOES NOT KNOW THE ANSWERS to the questions you are asking.

Now, participants will say something in answer to your questions. They will respond. But what they say will usually not be the real answer to your question.

That’s a problem because if you go with their first (wrong) answers, they will not be emotionally involved in the process. And if you continue following up one incorrectly-answered question with another, the process can quickly become emotionally dead.

Here’s what you need to understand:

To get deep results in Idol Breaking, you MUST be able to help the participant find deep answers to the Idol Breaking questions.

These answers generally

  1. reveal something about the participant that he or she wasn’t previously aware of, or
  2. non-shamingly reframe something about the participant that he or she has been ashamed of.

Simply “skimming the surface,” and not getting the deeper answers to the Idol Breaking questions–or getting off track with one wrong answer and heading off in the wrong direction entirely–will not lead to good results. (And frankly, I’m worried that if people don’t lead this work well, that Idol Breaking might get a reputation as “weak” work, or that I bring some sort of “magic” to the process that no one else can reproduce.)

For these reasons I created a teleseminar-based “Idol Breaking Facilitation Distance Learning Program.” I ran this program, recorded it, transcribed it and created extras for it.

Now, for one week, I’m making the downloadable, online training program available to you.

WHAT YOU GET

Here’s what you get right away when you purchase the “Idol Breaking Online Facilitation Training” program:

1) The Idol Breaking outline and script. Surprisingly little of what I say when I’m working with people is random, or said by accident. A lot of the words and phrases I use are the result of long testing (I’ve been running carpet work since 1988). If you simply practice the lines in the script I’ll give you, you’ll be miles ahead of anyone who is trying to “figure it out on the fly.” If you simply read aloud these key phrases on a regular basis, they’ll flow more easily off your tongue when you are working with participants. That will make a big difference.

2) The Idol Breaking Post-Process Practice Sheet. After you run an Idol Breaking process, simply fill out this sheet and we’ll be able to go over it together in individual conversation (more on that in a moment). I’ll show you where you might have gone off track, and give you guidance so you’ll be able to stay on-track next time.

3) Recordings of the Five Module Audios. I ran five 1-hour group calls. I covered one Module topic each session (see below for more about the Modules) and gave examples. There was also some Q&A from participants. All five of these calls are instantly available for you to download when you grab your copy of the course.

4) Edited Transcipts of the Five Module Audios. I know that not everyone learns best through audio recordings. For that reason I’ve transcribed and edited each of the modules. So along with the five hours of audio training, you’ll also download eighty-six pages of edited PDF transcripts, containing everything I taught in the course.

5) Session Mind Maps. You get my complete “mind map” that I created for each session. If mind maps are your thing (they aren’t for everybody), you’ll like these PDF graphics of all the data from each of the lessons.

6) My personal outlines. You’ll also get the outlines from which I ran each class session, from for reference and review.

7) Personal Access to Me. When you purchase this 5-module program, you get 5 weeks of personal access to me, starting the date of your purchase. If you want to talk about a process you were involved in, or if you have questions about the process you want answered, you can call me up and we’ll talk right then, or we’ll set up a time for a call. Because of my personal involvement in this program, I’m limiting this sale to one week so I won’t get overwhelmed.

Other extras. There are a few other things included, like the “Finding the Fate” checklist, extra notes on “news vs. analysis,” and an in-depth, 28-minute recording of “live material” with a participant. In this audio we delve into “finding the longing,” as well as into other aspects of the Idol Breaking process. Numerous students told me this example audio was very useful in deepening their ability to actually do the process.

The Five Idol Breaking Modules

Here’s what’s in the five Idol Breaking Modules:

Module 1: What do they really want, on the deepest level? If you get their “deepest want” wrong (and it’s very easy to get it wrong), then the whole process will seem dead and/or go sideways. In this Module I cover:

  • The key differences between the “carpet work” you are used to and Idol Breaking work. Some of the “rules” of carpet work are turned on their head in Idol Breaking, and you’ll do much better knowing the new “rules of the road.”
  • How to figure out what the participant’s heart really, truly wants.
  • Ways to start the process to get to the deep want quickly.
  • Identifying and not getting caught up in the most common “wrong” answers (the “sounds good” solutions and the “make it through” desires).
  • How to go from vague wants (“I want to be at peace,” or “I want to be closer to God”) to specific wants.
  • Finding the situations and qualities that participants really care about, like “A more loving family” or “a deeper sense of belonging.”
  • How to know when you have your answer and can proceed to the next question.
  • Handling objections that participants give to the very idea of pursuing what they want (“There’s a limit to what I can do,” “my spouse won’t change,” etc.)

In this session I also introduce the practice sheets and talk about how to fill them out, and I give instruction on how to practice alone or with one other person.

Module 2: What do they get instead, when they go for fulfilling that want?

It can be surprisingly hard to help a person see what they “get instead”–usually they will give you explanations or analysis about WHY they didn’t get what they wanted. It’s also critical at this stage that you secure the emotional involvement of the participant. In this Module I cover:

  • Sorting out what they actually “get instead” from their stories and explanations about it.
  • Setting up the role players properly.
  • How to use stories to engage the participant emotionally.
  • Incredibly, people who have done a lot of personal work and who are good at taking personal responsibility can have a HARDER time seeing what they “get instead.” I show you how to identify and handle this problem.

Module 3: When they can’t get that deepest want fulfilled, what heart-breaking fate do they start to accept?

In this Module I cover:

  • How to get the exact “fate words” that have deep emotional resonance with the participant.
  • How to build trust and to “course correct” by using “the story so far.”
  • How to increase the participant’s commitment to the process through specific questions designed to help them understand their “dark world.”
  • The two sides of every fate. If you can’t see both sides of the fate, you aren’t there yet.
  • Using colored cloths to deepen emotion.
  • How to “rub it in” to get emotional commitment.
  • How to know when you’ve got the “fate” correct and can move on.

Module 4: What kind of a ‘god’ or “higher power” are they believing in who would set up the world so that they have no choice but to accept a heart-breaking fate?

In this module I cover:

  • “Locking in” their reality, and showing them their world. Why it’s CRITICAL to do this step.
  • Helping them see it’s THEIR world, not one you made up.
  • How to continue to use “the story so far” to keep them emotionally involved and to “course correct” if necessary.
  • The exact phrases to use to find the false ‘god.’
  • Answering the “So you think you’re God” objection. This is IMPORTANT. This objection doesn’t come up much, but it’s a show-stopper when it does, so you need to be able to handle it.
  • Best practices in speaking about the false “god.”
  • Ways to deepen their awareness of the cruelty and falsity of the false god.

Module 5: What is their best sense of the love and mercy the real Divinity has for them?

Ultimately, Idol Breaking is about helping people take better actions in the world. You prepare the participant to take new actions by doing what I call your “due diligence.” The participant has to really get that things are different now, and that the troubling circumstances they are facing no longer mean what they used to.

Due diligence gets the participant to that place of hope. Otherwise they may feel Divine compassion, but not have a new identity or a new ability to act. In this Module I cover due diligence in depth. I also cover:

  • Ways to move them into and through blessing, quickly and efficiently.
  • Understanding and using the three phases of getting blessing and guidance from God.
  • Using “Even if” questions.
  • Using questions to break “holding back” and conditional love.
  • How to take them from FEELING differently to ACTING differently in the world.
  • Ending the process.

Major Help In Improving Your Facilitation Skills

In the beginning of my facilitation career, three “Major Helpers” had the biggest impact on how quickly my skills improved:

Major Helper #1: Practice. I practiced every chance I got. In my very early days, this was mostly in my men’s group. Of course, you’ll get your best results if you practice Idol Breaking on a variety of people.

But I know that’s not always possible for everyone.

To help you with that, I do my best to show you the kind of variety of responses you might get from people. (I have a pretty good sense of the kind of trouble you can run into.)

I’ll also make sure people in the same area know of each other (with your permission) so that you can practice together.

And perhaps most important, I show you how to practice alone or with one other person.

Practicing alone, or with one other person is much more effective than not practicing at all, and I highly recommend it if you don’t have as many people to practice on as you might like.

Major Helper #2: Processing the Process. When I was first learning, after each meeting I would go out to a late-night coffee shop with a fellow group member. We would sit and rigorously dissect each process we had led, and each process we had seen.

We’d go over each process step by step, and question each decision, and use the benefit of hindsight to decide if there might have been a better way to go.

To help you get that same benefit, we’ll go over your Idol Breaking Post-Process Practice Sheets together, and you’ll be able to brainstorm how you might have facilitated the process more deeply. (Plus, we’ll celebrate your victories together!)

Major Helper #3: Learning from experts. In my early days I spent a lot of time learning from the best facilitators I could find: Ron Hering and Cliff Barry. I was able to go to them with questions and get guidance–and that made a huge difference in how quickly I was able to progress my skills. Rather than having to learn entirely by trial and error, they’d give me the benefit of their experience to speed me along.

During the 5 weeks after you get your course, I’ll be available for you to give you feedback on the processes that you run. You’ll have access to private calls with me as needed, so you’ll be able to learn from my experience, as well as from your own.

I’m doing everything I can to help you practice, process the process, and learn from the expert.

These three “Major Helpers,” together, will help you get better faster.

The Details

The cost of this program is $195. For that amount you get all the audio downloads, the edited transcripts, the worksheets, the extras, and 5 weeks of personal access to my help in your work on the Idol Breaking process.

Because I don’t want to spend my life dealing with marketing this program — and because of the amount of personal attention I’m giving to each person who gets a copy of the course — the course will be available for five days (through Tuesday, July 21st), then I’m taking it off the market.

As you can see, I’m not doing any sort of big, elaborate push here. This is a chance for you to learn Idol Breaking Facilitation without having to travel or spend excessive amounts of money. If you are still reading this far into this web page, you’re probably pretty interested. If it sounds right to you, I hope you’ll join me. After you pay, you’ll be redirected to the program download page.
